Rock Creek Hook-in and Rug Show: Show Rugs Part 1

As promised, here are photos of the rugs on display (and a few in vendor booths) at the 2011 Rock Creek Hook-in and Rug Show in Lenexa, KS.  I have 70 photos - so I will split them up into several different posts.

There were so many wonderful rugs.  I think I have them all, unless one was put up and then taken down without me seeing it.  It is not always possible to read the tags to see who designed the rug, but if you really, really, really want to know about one, leave a comment here on the blog to let me know which one it is and I will try to track it down!  Some of them I know and will list below...

These two are Edyth O'Neill designs.  The top one is hooked by my rug hooking teacher Anita White!  These are both beautiful.  I love to see the same design hooked different ways.

Two more Edyth O'Neill designs...

This is a fun pattern... here are two interpretations.

A variety of fun rugs...

This one is a Bea Brock design...

 Another Anita rug!

Everyone's work is so inspiring!

This photo does not do this rug justice.  The background is Really Neat!  Can you see the shadowy effect?

This design is an old spice label, by Kate.  There will be another label rug by Kate in the next post.

This was designed and hooked by Bernadette - from our local group The Woolhawks!

Check back soon.  I will post the rest of the photos - maybe tomorrow.

  1. Wow Amy - What great rugs were shared! Were there prizes given out for the rug show? Just asking because we're new at doing all this stuff here in Utah and we don't know exactly what to do - ribbons? prizes? cash? Just wondering.

I love the first few rugs cuz it's so fun to see the same design hooked by different people. It's always so amazing.

I like the spice label rug too - one of my friends collects vintage fruit crate labels and I keep trying to talk her into using one of them to design a rug.

I look forward to seeing more pictures. Thanks for all your efforts - I know it takes a long time to load them all!

  2. Thanks for posting these Amy...by the time I got around to look at the rugs a lot of them had been taken away so this is great. I took photos but can't seem to upload them off my camera for some reason. I'll post your link on my blog so that people can see the photos. I too know that it is time consuming. Another great year at Lenexa in spite of the less than ideal weather.

  4. Lots of wonderful rugs! One of the things that never ceases to amaze me is how very different the topics, styles, genres, of hooked rugs!

Three of my dear friends were at this Hook In, wish I could have come along with them! Thanks for sharing the pics with those of us who couldn't be there!
